One of the fun things about fiber-specific issues is finding out about fibers you’ve never heard of.
While you might picture raffia in shades of beige, Ra-Ra Raffia comes in a wide range of colors. It is a favorite of crocheters, but I found in my sampling that raffia also weaves up beautifully, provided you know how to handle it.
I've wanted to weave with raffia for a long time and the new kind of raffia that is on the market now seems perfect for placemats.
