Editor’s Note: As I was planning how to celebrate Linda Ligon’s 50 years in publishing, I gave myself the very distinct pleasure of tracking down her projects that were published in Handwoven over the years. Her work (dozens of designs, and I’m not certain I found them all) includes scarves, shawls, table runners, placemats, pillowcases, clothing for adults and for children, a book binding, a rag rug, and so much more.
The exuberance of Linda’s Shaggy Bag Story, originally published in the September/October 2008 issue, caught my eye. For the Winter 2025 issue, we updated it with a note about yarns and we broke the project into steps, but her voice still comes through loud and clear: “You can weave this! Have fun with it!"
